Bankhead Design were appointed to develop a design scheme and planning drawings for the  complete house renovation & construction of a 3 storey side extension to a traditional welsh cottage in the Swansea Valley. We overcame endless planning constraints to finally gain full planning permission with a design that the Client was happy with, which included an open plan kitchen/ lounge area to the ground floor with bedrooms on the first & second floors. In order to convert the attic space into living areas the existing pitched roof had to be raised and gable roof dormers incorporated to allow for suitable ceiling heights. The existing stonework to the front of the house was retained to the existing house and the new extension was finished in a smooth render finish. Bi fold doors were installed at ground & first floor levels with a feature window incorporated within one of the attic bedrooms.

Full planning permission

granted May 2021
